Are You Ready to Rumble??

November 30th, 2007

I’d like to tell you that each step of the wedding process is going to be blissful. Even more importantly, that your relationship will suddenly become oh so perfect! Sorry my friends, it just won’t (and if it does please call me- I need details!). It’s a stressful period so here’s how to keep the boxing gloves at bay. Don’t rush it. Enjoy being engaged. I know the question right after your announcement will inevitably be “when are you getting married?” Well, touché, you are allowed, to not know. In fact, how fun will the planning process be if you get to take it bit-by-bit!

Now being where I am I’d say hire a wedding planner. Ask for her references, checkout her portfolio pictures, but most importantly, spend time with her. Okay, there’s the plug. If however you’d like the experience on your own, grab those newsstand magazines, research online and buy a three ring binder. You don’t need the fancy planners for $50+. They are not essential, but if you want to spoil yourself, do! Spend time with your fiancé and talk about your dreams and visions. DREAM, day-dream and pull out pictures from magazines. Just spend the first bit of time in your fantasyland.

Now, onto tougher subjects, family, money and, wedding politics. Start with your fiancé. Talk to him about it and where the money might best come from. If you place one another first in your relationship and make decisions together first, believe that your engagement will be the start of a beautiful relationship.
