February 6th, 2010

We love dressed up dapper men! And your wedding is the perfect time to get the boys done up.  An option we love here at Beautiful Day is the Custom All Star Shoes from Converse. Great for that casual wedding and  guys who prefer that comfortable cool. With the custom option, you can create the shoes within your wedding color scheme and personalize them with the date of the wedding. Great for your photos and wedding memories.

Another great option to dress up your dudes, is this boutonniere. We think they could be great for formal or casual weddings. They are balsa wood flowers that look like there a mix between a succulent and a ranunculus. They give that rugged feeling, in a handsome way. Word on the street is that they are eco-friendly flowers as well. Photo Credit: Floral Designer, Lauryl Lane.

December 28th, 2009

Looking for your something blue or maybe just something pretty? Thanks to another fabulous find on Junebug Weddings, we came across these lovely handmade garters. These wedding garters by Julianne Smith will make you want to keep the “Toss the Garter” tradition alive! Ranging from animal print, environmental friendly, embroidered, to patriotic themed; there’s a garter to fit any girl’s personality. Smith’s one duty as a bridesmaid was to find the perfect garter for her friend and when she couldn’t, she set out to create her own. Now with over 30 designs, she has her very own wedding garter collection, with prices ranging from $21-$60.

Destination Trip to Seattle in a second.

August 30th, 2007

This week is all about destination planning. I’m off to Seattle for a three day planning trip. The bride lives in Bahrain so we’ve been teleconferencing for weeks, it’ll be fantastic to spend time in person. How do you start planning a wedding in a far off location? First get a comfy chair and be ready for intense time with your computer. Finding a local resource is a gift. I happened upon www.junebugweddings.com. Fantastic! This is what a wedding reference web site should be. Gorgeous photos, small hand-selected vendor list and style to boot. After the hunting and gathering expect a busy period of phone calls and emails. Who, what, when, where and the ever important how much?!? First question: do you have the date available? Luckily, Seattle has a calmer pace and isn’t booked into late 2008, except for the photographers. While a planning trip will most likely be filled to the brim with meetings remember to take notes and big breaths. Give yourself some time to make these ~big~ decisions.
And no matter where you have your wedding check out Junebug Weddings blog- it’s a resource and a riot!
