Favor your loved ones

January 22nd, 2010

Couples are always looking for creative ways to show their gratitude and thank their guests or wedding party. Below are two favor ideas that caught our eye thanks to Martha Stewart Weddings!

The first idea would be great for a wedding with a small guest list or simply just for the bridal party. We like the idea of using them as the escort cards. The names are hand calligraphed on top of the box for the elegant look. And inside, as the gift is a rubber stamp of the guest’s name, which is also in the hand calligraphed font. A specialty vendor or craft supply store can create the rubber stamps for you. Tie a cute ribbon around the box and you’re good to go! Such a great gift, perfect for the guests stationary. Don’t forget the table number on the box if used as escort cards!

Idea number two are these little darling etched flowerpots. Again, perfect gifts for your bridal party or end of the night favors. Shot glasses or little glass tumblers can be used as the flowerpots. For a personalized look, you can etch the flowerpots with your bridal party’s names or put your monogram and date of the wedding for guest favors. How to etch the glass? You can have them professionally done or buy etching powder from a craft supply store (like Michael’s). The etching solution is prepared and once set on the glass, it dissolves and creates the carved look. Martha Stewart suggests buying a bed of pansies from a flower shop and placing them inside the flowerpot for the guest to later plant at their home!

A Green Favor that gives back!

April 20th, 2008

My home garden is in full bloom, so I should have known, that my blog would bloom too. So here I am writing about every beautiful flower I come across. Have you seen www.estiloweddings.com ? I love this gift website because it really purveys elegance mixed with vibrant colors in each and every item. Today, my favorite item is their Garden In A Bag, Chocolate Viola. They aptly describe the blooms that grow from this prepared leak proof indoor garden as “velour frosted chocolate”. I imagine a summer afternoon wedding table lined with these beautiful bags as guest favors. Each one with an additional ~Thank You~ from the bride and groom. Instead of handing out chocolate, maybe chocolate flowers? (and it’s “green” ta boot)

Note: The seeds take only 7 days to germinate (so they’ll be ready before your wedding photos)!
