Ladies, are you having a hard time letting go of your last name? If the celebs can keep their name, you certainly can too! Times are a-changing! But if your traditional gal at heart, you need to remember to request name change documents. The May issue of Brides Magazine has a great article on topics to consider when your changing your name. From hyphenating you and your husband’s names, the marriage license, how to book your honeymoon, and to where to go to make it all happen. Gotta have S’more!

Wish I came up with that adorable Tag line, but it’s the name of the company! Gotta have S’more is a line of mouthwatering treats in the form of s’mores. When founder, Carmen Lindner, couldn’t sleep one night this tasty idea came to life. With some late night thinking and baking experiments, the S’muffin was made! We picked up samples and couldn’t believe how delicious and cute they were. They may seem like too much sweet in a bite, but the different flavors and texture was to die for. They come in Milk Chocolate, Caramel, Dark Chocolate, Peanut Butter, and Cookies n’ Creme to name a few! A detail that can be easily be overlooked is the arrangement of your reception napkins. Not to add another detail to your big day… but when done right and in an unique way, it will certainly catch your guest’s eye. We recently went to a tasting and they had several napkin folding options to show our bride. Thoughtful and creative, we instantly warmed up and felt inspired! Qualities we love to see in a professional. We instantly took to the magnificent Martha Stewart and found several ways to spruce up your napkins. It can be as simple as adding a single bloom, gem stone, or your mouthwatering menu. Will you be adding a creative touch to your plate?

Real Wedding: Mia & Damon

Did you catch our recent feature on Once Wed? If not, let me introduce you to one of newest newlyweds, Mia and Damon. It’s such a honor to see our couples vision come alive and be shared with others for inspiration. Thank you to photographer Heather Moore for the submission to Once Wed for the feature. Without further ado let me introduce you to our newlyweds. We have a few bonus shots that weren’t on the Once Wed feature.

The location was a private estate nestled in the Malibu hills, overlooking the ocean. The bride was simply stylish with her sparkly Miu Miu wedges, fresh faced make-up, and sleek dress. Mia took the “beach wedding” to another level. Their wedding was complete with succulent arrangements, wine barrels, Polaroid snapshots escort cards, and tasty chocolate bars featuring photos from their childhood photo albums. The new Mr. & Mrs. kept their guests dancing past the Malibu curfew!

Preserve your big day

Just a few short days ago I became completely enchanted with wedding gowns again. Not that I ever fell out of love or enchantment but here, is just another reason. Having made the acquaintance (and soon after friendship) of the lovely Kate Roberts with J. Scheer & Co. (west coast). I realized that there truly was so much to learn about preservation of memories. Not only photographic memories (which is the #1 request for most bridal budgets) but preserving your wedding day ICON, the gown.

Now we certainly understand that a lady has to be reasonable when spending precious bridal budget dollars. So sometimes that dream gown can be $500 and sometimes, well, it can be fifteen thousand. That being said that gorgeous gown will be seen on mantels and recorded in everyones mind as “your” gown for posterity. And that is where memory keeping comes in to play.

Much to my delight Mr. Scheer arrived in LA and took the time for a breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien with me. I was enthralled and delighted with the vast knowledge he had of stitchery and preservation, detail upon detail about glued beads verses hand sewn, and embroidery of quality lace. When you send your wedding memory to be preserved there is truly no one else that can compare to detail, professionalism and knowledge. I could have listened and maintained my fasination all afternoon. But I won’t overwhelm you.

It is with great encouragement that I advise you to have your gown preservation entrusted to Kate, who will pick-up, ship and provide excellent personalized service for any bride in Southern California. Upon receipt to their studio in New York City, they will review your hem, the dash of wine and nervous persperation and quote your cleaning. Of course the cost is based upon your gown and it’s condition but it is within reason and you can talk to them before they make a move.

We have been extended a little gift for those brides who’ve yet to get their gown cleaned and preserved, so please call or email us for details… the sooner you preseve your gown the better!

We recently came across Erin Jang and her fun invitation design company, Indigo Bunting. Jang is a graphic designer and illustrator in New York. While known for her whimsical and quirky style, she has carved out her niche in the wedding industry with her custom invitations. These out of the box invitations are a POP of fresh air. We love the bright and cheery look of the heart accordion below. They are a sure fire way to set out a fun tone for your wedding day; guests will know they are in for some good times! One of the most important and fun times of the wedding planning process are the Hair and Make-up Trial Appointments. You get a sneak peek on how you’ll look on your big day. It’s the bride’s paparazzi day, so appearance is important and so is being confident. Lately, our brides have been booking a second trial because either they are having second thoughts about their look or didn’t have an overall great experience. It’s such a bummer to us because trials can be expensive and we don’t want our brides to get discouraged.

So brides listen up! Here are some great tips to make sure you have an overall lovely and comfortable trial. One of our faves, owner Jaimi Brooks of Fiore Beauty has a few tips.

1) Come ready to your trial with visual inspiration (magazine clippings)

2) Look back at your favorite photos (how was your hair styled?)

3) Bring a picture of your dress

4) Are you going to have a veil? If yes, bring it along!

5) Bring someone who knows you (she’ll see the furrow in your brow)

**Speak up … your team wants to bring out the best version of you!**

These tips will really help the artist understand what you’re looking for and gives them time to prep before your arrival.

Make it a fun process by being open and ready to try different do’s – this is your time to play!
